Silverwind Farms in August

Silverwind Farms is a magical place for me, and I know it's the same way for a lot of the other riders out there as well. Horses have been a part of my life since I was a kid, and when we moved to Portland it was mandatory that I find a place to ride. We sure lucked out: Silverwind is like a second home to myself and my dad.

I don't ride like I used to, but my dad does. Thankfully, I get to visit the barn pretty regularly and watch him ride, it's a total blast. His horse, Calynda, is just part of the family.

It's utterly cheesy, but the barn kept me in school, it helped me discover my passion for photography, it always welcomed me home with open arms and it's still a sanctuary whenever I need it. The photos I have of this place are so numerous, I'll never be able to catalog them all, but I figured a quick post of the recent happenings is a start.

Koda is a Schipperke - an uncommon Belgian breed - that runs around the barn like a speeding black, fuzzy bullet.

Ballou, another Silverwind fixture, has a very hard time just watching the horses - herding instincts are hard to fight.
