Outtakes

Being a photographer is a ridiculous job. There are days where I honestly can't believe that people pay me real money (not Monopoly money) to do what I do.

While I've been honing my skills over the years, I've asked my friends for a LOT of help. Facebook posts requesting models, asking people to be in fake relationships for photos, making people shoot in sun, rain, snow, you name it. In the process, I've ended up with hundreds of photos, some labeled as keepers for my website or instructional videos or even on my software company's website. So what happens to all the others? Well, some of them I like to reserve for myself. When I'm having a bad day, when I'm tired and need a good laugh, these photos make me happy. They remind me why I love this hilarious job, why I love taking pictures of people, why I can't imagine leaving this career behind and why I love my friends.

So with that, I give a glimpse into my world: The Outtakes.

These are the cats who were patient with me through numerous lighting set ups and hours of flashing strobes, through bad Starbucks coffee and vending machine snacks, through dozens of outfit swaps and location changes, through some failed learning experiences and some of the best images I've ever taken. Max, Megan, Nathan, Casey, Adam, Cecily, Meghan, Becca, Randi, Brittany, Dan, John and countless others - you all rock.

Here's to many more shoots, a studio of my own one day and a few less lighting screw ups. I promise.
